This last week has been crazy!!!
We
are teaching a man named Antonio. He is from Italy and reminds me a Ton
of Grandpa Bair. I love him. He has the ugliest rat of a dog named
curly that he WORSHIPS and I do not know why... I'll take a pic someday.
Patrick is good as ever. We CANNOT wait for him to get baptized. Bishop
wants him in people's homes though so we will be pushing the date a
bit. Not sure how much! We are also teaching a man named Jerry... we
found Jerry in our area book and thought we would give him a call... his
info said that they didn't know if it was a boy or a girl but they had
taught it like 8 times soooo..... it's totally a guy. He's totally
Baptist and likes to bash us but then he wants to read the book of Mormon sooo... we are just going to hang on tight with that one.
We
met the Smoguers and the Browns this last week, they are both families
bishop wants us to work with. They both said they would come to church
and didn't... agh. We will keep trying. They're all so cute. WE HAD 4
INVESTIGATORS AT CHURCH THIS LAST WEEK. Patrick wants to give everyone a
ride to church. Antonio didn't take a smoke break, Terri didn't pass
out and Paula softened up a little! GOOD DAY. I'M ONLY A LITTLE STRESSED
ALL THE TIME DON'T EVEN WORRY
We
have had some crazy cool experiences with less actives and people with
struggling testimonies. We went to dinner with the N* family and they
have a 15 year old girl that cheers, is 4'10, wants to be a dentist, and
hates drama. #MYHOMEGIRL... anyway, we felt impressed to tell this family
how much Heavenly Father loves them but the spirit told us last minute
to do otherwise. I directed the whole thing to just her and told her
that her Heavenly Father is aware of her and loves her and that if she
will turn to him, she will realize he as been there every step of the
way. Just inviting her to feel it. I told her how I felt during high
school when I was sometimes so tired I didn't want to go to church on Sunday.
When I wasn't reading my scriptures... when I was MAYBE praying once a
day ish, and that I know how she feels, and how much He is still there.
The whole family got teary and I said I DON'T EVEN KNOW WHY I'M SAYING
THIS, I DON'T EVEN KNOW YOU, but the spirit does... the mom chimed in and
said I KNOW EXACTLY WHY. J* had been going through a hard time and
doesn't have the best example of brothers.. she was struggling to want
to be active, to choose good things, to not be so stressed her brain
turns into mush. the mom texted us just the other day and thanked us.
She is doing better now and I always run up and give her the hugest hug
at church! :)
Then we
found a FAMILY! There is a family in our ward named the Martins. They
invited their family friends over again for a dinner and they are now
interested in taking lessons and coming to know Christ better. The last
lesson we taught, we did an activity where we blind folded the dad and
everyone tried to tell him different directions and he was supposed to
find the picture of the temple (which was across the yard) then we
called the dads phone (representing the still small voice) and told him
how to get there. We talked about how we have to tune out the worldly
things and follow the spirit to lead and guide us. We'll the M*
family LOVED it. They talked about it after we had left when they went
home that night... they told Sister Martin that the next time we come
over they want to come. So yesterday, we taught everyone the first
vision using Jenga and they all (even the parents) got down on their
knees when we recited the first vision. The spirit was so strong. I bore
my testimony of my experience in the MTC, how I came know it was true,
and now they are wanting us to come over and they want to feed us, they
want us to teach them, they want a church, they want it all. The dad ran
home and printed out his testimony of how he became a believer after
being an atheist and feeling he didn't need God. It happened after his
wife almost died, they were in the hospital and no one knew if she would
make it, they had 4 kids, her lungs were filling with fluid fast. He
went to the chapel of the hospital and hit his knees. He basically tells
the "Don't take the girl" story and all of a sudden he felt this huge lift
as if someone was picking him up. She made it, and he has wanted to
come closer ever since. Heavenly Father sure does know what he's doing,
and he sure does love his children.
I know that my redeemer lives, what COMFORT this sweet sentence gives.
Love, Sister Bair.
