I hope you all had a great mothers day, I know I did!
This last week was so good!
We
are still kinda treading water trying to get in the lessons for Patrick
who is on date, while finding all of these other people we don't know
from the whitewash, and trying to have lessons with all of the people
bishop gave us, the load is heavy but the load is great!
Monday
we were able to teach Patrick during PDAY, it went SO WELL. He loves
everything we give him and cannot get enough. He pauses to tell us how
everything relates to him.... he is the tiniest little guy. We love him a
lot. He is so excited to be baptized, seriously on fire. That night we
were able to go find some lost sisters that the relief society were
never able to get in contact with. We went with sister Charles, hopped
in her truck and it was SO FUN. we were able to find 3 of the 4 and
give a report on them so the relief society was up to date. There is
seriously so much potential here it's unreal! Sister Charles is this cute
single white haired lady that loves for us to come do our laundry. She
always has stories to tell and loves to come out with us. She loves to
feed us, she loves missionary work, she's just the best. She's like
our main grandma. SO CUTE. The other day she was telling us about this
cool experience in the temple that she had and how Heavenly Father
sometimes gives us the answers first so when we have the question later,
the Holy Ghost can bring back to our remembrance the answer we already
received. Heavenly Father works in mysterious ways, but they are always
the best way to help us progress!
Tuesday
was awesome, it was zone conference and I just really always love zone
conference because they always give us ways we can feel the spirit more
fully, or things we can study to help us improve. This is just amazing
work and I feel so blessed to be able to help. I love missionary life.
There is nothing better. We talked a lot about
missionary work and relating it to the flight pattern of geese. Always
lifting, switching around who is in the front, how staying in groups is
how the work will go far, there was a quote that I loved that said "if
you want to go fast, go alone. If you want to go far, go together." HOW
TRUE THAT IS! Sometimes things don't go fast out here, but then you
realize that if it had, it wouldn't have gone so far. I love it! We also
talked about what charity looks like. There is a topic to study in the
scriptures. I've loved studying by topic, I learn so much that way.
Wednesday
we contacted the ENTIRE LIST of people that the bishop gave us and that
felt so good. The list is huge and it gives us a lot to work with. We
are really excited to see where we can take it! There are lots of
families that need strengthening, that's kinda the focus of this
transfer, except we have someone on date now and found another new
investigator.... lots to work with!!!
Thursday
we taught Patrick again, I love him a lot. He teaches us things and he
reads and studies from the gospel library and sends us quotes from the
prophet. Life isn't real, I already know. We were also able to go to a
relief society activity where we met all of the sisters in the ward! It
was so good. They talked about depression, a topic that I didn't know a
ton about, but I was able to learn a ton and I realized how common it
is. I'm so grateful that we are never more than two knees away from
someone who can do ANYTHING, the one who we can rely on that makes
NOTHING impossible.
Friday
we helped a lady move out, and we had a barbecue with a family who
invited their non member friends who had investigated the church before!
They were super cool! The dad would love to be a Mormon but the mom is
hesitant.. she grew up in New Jersey and is super sarcastic... I can
roll with that.. we were told to just lean not push them... we spent a
lot of time fellowshipping her and we made a great connection! Hopefully
we get a family to teach soon! We got to know the kids and the dad said
he wanted to read the Book of Mormon again! We softly invited him to do
so and also invited him to church. It was so much fun though, this
ward is awesome.
Saturday
we helped Sister Charles weed out her super overgrown garden.. we were
able to put a good dent in it but it's not yet finished.. she's going
out of town for a few weeks and gave us the key to her house and
demanded that we do our laundry there.. we will just get her garden done
while she's gone. So pumped. I need to garden when I get home I think...
maybe. Then we found ANTONIO! He is the new investigator from Italy and
is reading the Book of Mormon again! He wants to start taking the
lessons again and he wants us to help him stop smoking and drinking. We
are taking a girl named Michaela out with us as she is waiting on her
call! She has had anxiety in the past so we are just trying to help her get used to the missionary grind so it's a little easier when she gets
out in the field. She'll be great! We had dinner at the Blairs, they
are my favorite. And also we are teaching a super posh old lady named
Terri who kinda scares me but I really love her.. she just says some
harsh things and isn't afraid to call it how it is.. including if your
outfit is just struggling a bit... all is well. :)
Sunday
was super awesome! Patrick CAME TO CHURCH. He shed a handful of tears
during sacrament, was writing notes and talking to EVERYONE. He loves to
have people sign things and makes sure he has things in chronological
order of his "Journey of How I Became A Mormon." Then I was able to
Skype my family!! No better thing. Families are forever. I am so
grateful. Heavenly Father loves me no doubt because I don't know what I
would do without them. I love the Savior. I love the gospel. Life is
good. I am so grateful for a mom who like the stripling warriors,
taught me everything I know. Instilled her testimony into me so I could
be stronger later. Give your mom a squeeze!!!
I love you all tons. Thanks for being in my life.
