Week 22!!! Transfers! I'm staying in Elgin!

Hey Lindas!!!

This week was transfers! My new companion was actually Sister Jardine's MTC comp... CRAZY! Her name is Sister Willis, she is from the same place as both Sister Jardine and Sister Peterson (near Alpine) and she is great!! I get to drive the mom bus nowadays and I have to say, I'm kinda a fan... but don't tell anyone. ;) We have been able to meet with almost everyone we work with so she can hit the ground running!

Not sure what I wrote in my last weekly, (sorry if I ever repeat anything, I lack perfection.) But we were able to meet with a less active who went on a mission! It was a miracle that we found him, because really, he found US! We were in front of the apartment and he said HEY SISTERS! He hasn't moved his records since he has moved here, his wife got baptized a year ago, and they just went less active due to certain choices... he works every Sunday, etc. But they are working towards going to the temple and are so awesome! We were able to have a lesson with Gladys this last week as well. We repeated the restoration so she could comprehend it all better and it went so well! We are hoping to have Elder and Sister Busher come with us to a lesson soon as they are also from Puerto Rico! We got a new investigator named Linda Wall. She has a house that looks like a mini white house with green shudders.. she had to "give us the tour" before we could teach her but when we did teach her she was great! She has lots of questions but we do our best to answer them and she was so excited to read the Book of Mormon!! Arthur fell off date again... it's just so hard to get a hold of him... when we do catch him at the appointment we schedule he is sometimes a little upset and one time he told us that he drank again... BUT WE WILL KEEP GOING!

We have been trying to talk with EVERYONE and making lots of stop bys of former investigators who haven't been stopped by in a while. We have had very interesting conversations, but also very spiritual conversations. I'm finally getting the hang of being myself and a missionary at the same time while I'm talking to people. I used to think I had to be the robot missionary who only talks about gospel with people, but lately the mission has been focusing on being personable with those we talk to and be more HUMAN. It's been the best thing of my life. Yesterday we had an interesting stop by with a guy named CHIP. (I know) I have only met one other person who's heart was just a tad colder than his... he seemed to be so comfortable with his life, didn't care to know any answers to his questions because he says he'll know everything someday, but for now he's going to buy a boat for 80 grand and drive his truck on it and live on the boat in Florida.. I was a little fired up inside... I just bore testimony of the Savior and it was crazy how fast the spirit came. Those are some of my favorite moments on the mission, when you bear your testimony and the spirit streams in. It's cool to see people feel that. Often we don't see the fruits of our labors as a missionary and it gets ya down, but hopefully seeds grow! We are so blessed to be members of this church, I am more and more grateful every single day.

This last week was the general women's broadcast and it was the best thing ever. I was able to receive answers to things I had worried about. Heavenly Father answers prayers. He really does. A quote that was said was "LIFE DARKENS WHEN WE FOCUS ON OURSELVES." I have such a testimony of that. I have never been more happy than when I am serving someone else, or praying for someone else. Losing yourself to the work is the medicine to all things. They talked about focusing on those things that will last forever. Things like family, testimony, relationships, etc. There is a promise that these things won't be taken away from us and that we will be able to use them to serve others for the rest of forever. It is so important to work on these things while we are here on earth because "Now is the time to prepare to meet God," I have no greater desire than to be able to be a "go to man" for Heavenly Father, and I know it happens through preparing ourselves now. They talked a lot about recognizing your weaknesses and what a blessing it is to have the ability to do so. Because Heavenly Father is not just concerned about our comfort, but also about our eternal progression. What a blessing it is to have a Father in Heaven who loves us enough to drive us to be better.

I love being a missionary. This is the hardest thing I have ever done, but it is the best thing I have ever done. My 5 months in Illinois has already blessed my life forever and I can't wait for the rest of it! I love you all so so much, thank you for all the love and support.

I know our Savior lives. He knows what we are going through and how to make us everything we want to become. I challenge you all to ask Heavenly Father what you look like through his eyes, and let it motivate you to become what HE sees, for the worth of souls is GREAT in the sight of God.

Love, Sister Bair
