THIS
WEEK WAS THE BEST!
First
things first, we had transfers! I'm staying in Elgin 1st ward whoot
whoot! My new companion in Sister Jardine from Alpine, Utah. I love
her. She went to BYU for 4 semesters before she came out and is so
much fun!
So...
we have a member in the ward who works at a mental health hospital
with a woman named M*. He texted us asking to come to her house with
him so we could introduce her to the gospel but we had NO idea what
we were walking into. We arrived at the address he sent us to find
that she lives above an arts and music gallery, and they were singing
in the big open room because the acoustics are so great in there! It
sounded like I was walking into the Celestial kingdom. She's this
beautiful black woman who sings like Alicia Keys. We went up to her
apartment and she told us about this plan that she has. She and
Brother S* are both from different churches but she wants to come
together and put on a concert of soulful music. She is so passionate
about families and she wants them to be able to dance together and
worship Christ together to good uplifting music. She asked for song
suggestions, and oh did we have some for her. She LOVED it. She
played the piano for sister Jardine and me, and sang a song that she
wrote during her divorce. It was the most beautiful thing I had ever
heard. I had straight CHILLS. We were able to introduce her to the
Book of Mormon, and we explained part of the restoration to her and
she was amazed. She thought everything was so beautiful and she loves
Christ. We left her apartment with big plans to help unite families
and also get her baptized shhhhh... ;)
Then
we went to help a lady with 3 kids move into the ward . We unloaded 2
pods and it was insane! We we so dead by the end of the night. Hence
the service picture when we got home. DEAD.
THEN
WE HAD A MIRACLE HAPPEN. I* is an inactive member of the ward who the
bishop wanted us to go stop by. It turns out right before we came he
had been reading his patriarchal blessing and his journal and wanted
to come back and then knock knock knock, here we are! He committed to
come back to church next Sunday and we are so excited!
Then
Agustin got the priesthood on Sunday!! Oh we are just over the moon
excited! He and his family will be going through the temple July 8th,
2018. He glows now, it's the craziest thing!
Then
we met a lady named Saqdaw. She's black and wears an African dress
and is the COOLEST. MOM SHE TALKS JUST LIKE THAT VIDEO WE ALWAYS
QUOTE. Anyway, so we get in her apartment and her best friend Mary is
sitting there, Mary is THEE WHITEST lady with no teeth and talks
EXACTLY like Saqdaw. " OH GURL, WE GOTTA LIFT UP ONE ANOTHA"

I
WAS CRYING Laughing.
So
it's been the best week. Outer teaching pool has exploded. We meet so
many cool people everyday and the best part is that we get to tell
them how they can reach the happiest of happy. How they can be with
their families forever. It's my favorite message. I love this gospel.
I love being a missionary! I challenge you all to read a Gordon B.
Hinckley Talk this week. It doesn't even matter which one, you'll
feel happier reading any of them. He's the man.
