Well the Christmas spirit is well and alive here in Chicago!
We went on exchanges in Oswego and that was so much fun! I got to teach a new member lesson to Liz and then go paint the Copeland's house. Best thing ever. I loved Oswego, it's so fun to go back to past areas.
We have a total of 2 investigators, one of which just got baptized! Cassie is so great! She came to the church all ready to go. It was a smaller baptism because she LOATHES attention on herself. To the point that when Chaz told her that his parents were coming in the middle of one of our lessons she almost fell off her chair... she was like CHAZ WHEN WERE YOU GOING TO TELL ME THIS?! And Chaz had to cover it up and say in a sassy voice.. "woah this is not all about you. This is about MEEE." WE DIED. It was really cool to have a smaller set baptism.. the spirit was so strong. It's cool to feel how it doesn't have to be big and glamorous, not only baptisms but life in general. It's not about the big and the flashy, but about the small and simple. The spirit dwells there. She is the DEFINITION of small and simple. We put the jumpsuit on her and the adult small DROWNED HER. She was so embarrassed but she pulled through anyway. Chaz saw her and smiled so big and said "ah you look so cute babe!" She rolled her eyes and we proceeded with the program. Chaz was so nervous, he had to say the prayer 4 times but it all worked out! Seeing her stand in the water was one of the most spiritual experiences I've had on my mission. You could FEEL how much Heavenly Father loved her in that moment. Ah! I love them so much!
We got to go the the mission home for interviews this last week. Wow, I haven't been in that place since I first got into the mission when I was SO OUT OF IT. SO SO SICK. But that's okay I got to experience it in a living body this time. I love the Griffins so much. They have changed my whole life. I helped sister Griffin bake a pumpkin while S. Muhlestein had her departing interview, and then I went in for min. Pres. Talked to me all about my area. We are wanting to up the service and hopefully that will create some interest. The whole mission is going to be making that big push, so I'm really excited about it! He gave me a blessing! Mission President blessings are real special. He told me when I'm going home.... May 16. So I literally Skype for Mother's Day, and three days later boom I'm back. Haaaaaaaa so yeah, there's the update with that!
We had Thanksgiving, and it's really cool to think of all the things I'm grateful for. I don't know really where I could start but here are a few:
I'm really grateful for my mission. It's changed me so much. I don't know what it is about talking to all sorts of people about Christ that changes you, but the cool thing is that no matter what the turn out is of the conversation, you know that He stands right there by you. Then somewhere along the way you look back and think "what the HECK was I doing at home?" I. Love. My. Mission. So much.
I love my family. I'm so grateful for the support and encouragement I get from my family. I came from a really good one. I remember my first area my second week in the field and realizing just how good my family is. I love you all so much, you'll never know.
Another one I'm really grateful for is my testimony. Wow, I wish I could put it into words.. your testimony is your rock. I love that we can take our testimonies wherever they are and build them up and make them stronger. I KNOW Heavenly Father helps us all along the way. Sometimes we don't recognize it until we look back, but his hand is in everything. I KNOW THIS church is true. I KNOW my Savior loves me. He died for me, and he died for you. He would have done what he did even if I was the only one on the earth because he loves me that much. We can absolutely rely on him in everything we do and he helps us. I'm so blessed to get to share this message with the people of CHICAGO. WHAT A GREAT PLACE! IT HAS MY HEART.
Also, we got the transfer call and I'm staying in Naperville 3 to knock on multi-million dollar homes and be an STL with S.Young!
I love you all so much! Thank you for all that you do for me, for loving me and for sending letters and updates and packages. I love it all so much!! Huge shout out to Grandpa Jim! Happy bday this week!! Congrats to MAR for getting her mission call! You're gonna kill it. Carley, I'm pumped to meet Will.
Like all the black people here say, "have a blessed week! "
So much love,
